Chapter 09 · Cars and Tracks

Cars and tracks.

Multitap reads the content installed on your rigs and turns it into a catalogue with classes, regions, preview images and tyre data. This page is where you tidy it.

Where to find it·Admin panel Cars & Tracks

Assetto Corsa stores a car as a folder with a cryptic name like ks_mazda_mx5_cup. Multitap turns those folders into a catalogue with proper names, classes and regions, so the launcher shows Mazda MX-5 Cup under Cup and the leaderboards can filter by class. This page is where that catalogue is built and tidied. Changes are pushed to every connected rig automatically.

How content gets into the catalogue

There are two routes, and most venues use both. Any car or track that records a lap is added on the spot, with a best-guess name and class. And you can scan your content to fill in everything properly before the first lap is ever driven.

The Upload Content section appears when the Assetto Corsa tab is selected.

Scan Server ContentReads the venue's hosted content library on the Multitap server: names, brands, classes, countries, every livery with its preview, car preview images, tyre compounds, and track layouts with their pit counts and previews. Results are applied straight away and a summary reports how many cars and tracks were found, imported and updated.
Select Folder or drag a folderScans a copy of your Assetto Corsa content folder in the browser. Only the small description files inside each car and track are read; no game files are uploaded. Shows a summary and an Apply to Database button.
Select ZIP or drag a ZIPUploads a ZIP of your content and reads the same description files, plus tyre compound data from each car. Apply with the same button.

Applying a scan never overwrites a name, class or region you have edited by hand. Those rows are counted as skipped in the summary, but they still receive liveries, tyre data and previews from the scan.

AI lanes for traffic mode

Traffic sessions need a track's AI lanes. The Upload AI Splines box takes a folder or ZIP containing the ai folders from your tracks and stores them on the server for the tracks that have them. A badge reports how many files were imported. Then switch the track's Traffic toggle on in the tracks table so it appears in the traffic track list.

The tables

Two tabs, Cars and Tracks, share a toolbar: a dropdown to filter by class or region, a Needs Review toggle that shows only cars without a class or tracks without a region, a search box, and sortable column headers. A count shows how many rows match. Pages hold a hundred rows.

Cars

Each row has the folder name, an editable Display Name, an editable Class (comma-separated if a car belongs to more than one), and a save button. When a car is first seen, Multitap assigns a class by recognising its name: GT3, GT2, GT4, Prototype, Kart, Open Wheel, Touring, NASCAR, Rally, Drift, Cup, Classic and Street. Anything it cannot place is left blank and shows up under Needs Review and on the Dashboard. A car with no class is still launchable but does not appear on class-filtered boards, does not trigger class-based emails, and cannot be published to the global leaderboard.

Tracks

Each row has the folder name, an editable Display Name, an editable Region, a Traffic switch and a save button. Regions group the track list on the rig into The Americas, Europe · Africa, Asia · Oceania and Fantasy, and drive the Region filters in Groups and Leagues. Scans set the region from the track's country; you can override it. The Traffic switch marks a track as available for traffic sessions and saves immediately; the track still needs its AI lanes uploaded to actually launch.

Tracks with several layouts have a row per layout.

ACC and iRacing

The ACC and iRacing tabs come pre-filled with the cars and tracks those games ship, since their content does not change the way Assetto Corsa's does. Names, classes and regions are editable in the same way. There is no upload section for these games.

What the rigs see

Every save and every scan sends an update to connected rigs. A rig sitting on the car step refreshes its grid in place. Preview images for cars, liveries and tracks are synced to each rig when its launcher starts, so the customer's wizard shows photographs rather than folder names.
